Vagif Mustafazadeh (full name: Vagif Aziz oglu Mustafazadeh) (16 March, 1940 Baku – 17 December 1979 Tashkent), jazz pianist, composer, one of the first virtuosos and founder of Azeri jazz. In his creative work he united the traditional jazz methods with harmonic features of jazz. This is a cd that was released somewhere in 2004 and contains improved audio recordings of vagif. you'll defenitly enjoy this one!! Brief History: In 1959 he graduated from the A. Zeynalli Music College, Baku, in the piano class. In 1963 in Tbilisi he formed the trio “Caucasus”, and performed in native jazz festivals. In 1960-70 he was the leader of the State pop orchestra and headed the pop ensembles “Leyli” (1970-71) and “Sevil” (1972-77). In 1977 he organized the jazz-ensemble “Mugam” and gained wide recognition as representative of ethno-jazz. Undoubtedly he is a Phenomenon of world Jazz music and one of the best jazz pianists of the world!!
